TITLES-07-10 (supersedes TITLES-07-01)
SUBJECT: NORTH PEACE RESOURCE REVIEW AREA (FORT ST. JOHN - CHARLIE LAKE)
The Peace River Regional District (District) is currently in the process of updating part of the North Peace Official Community Plan (OCP), By-Law 820, 1993. Since 1993, some parts of the plan area have experienced significant growth and residential expansion. Through discussions with District staff, the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources (Ministry) has identified some lands within the OCP with the highest potential for future residential and community expansion. The area is identified as the North Peace Resource Review Area (NPRRA) and contains approximately 18,700 hectares of land adjacent to Charlie Lake between Fort St. John and Mile 62 in northeastern British Columbia (see attached map).
To assist the District during the OCP update process, the Ministry will not be accepting requests for tenure until January 1, 2008 for the April 23, 2008 petroleum and natural gas rights disposition.
Additional information on the OCP can be found listed under “OCP’s Under Development” at:
http://www.peaceriverrd.bc.ca/quick_links/NPFA/index.php
All existing tenures in good standing within the NPRRA will continue to be subject to requirements under the Petroleum and Natural Gas Act and regulations.
