EMD02-02
TITLES DIVISION
SUBJECT: DUNLEVY CREEK MANAGEMENT PLAN
The Dawson Creek Land and Resource Management Plan (LRMP) approved in March 1999, designated the Dunlevy Creek area in northeast BC as a special management zone. The LRMP recommended that a petroleum and natural gas pre-tenure plan be considered for the zone shown on the attached map prior to any further resource development.
The Dunlevy Creek Public Planning Process was initiated in May 2000 with the objective of providing clear guidelines for forestry and oil and gas operations in the Dunlevy Creek zone. The Ministry of Energy and Mines agreed not to issue further oil and gas tenure in the zone until the plan was completed. The Dunlevy Creek Management Plan was completed and approved on February 6, 2002 by the Ministry of Sustainable Resource Management, which is now responsible for strategic land use planning.
The Ministry of Energy and Mines is now accepting posting requests within the plan area for any of its regularly scheduled dispositions of oil and gas rights. For disposition dates, refer to Information Letter Titles 03-02 - 2003/2004 Petroleum and Natural Gas Rights Disposition Dates.
To obtain information on bidding procedures for oil and gas rights, refer to Information Letter EMD00-05 - Amended Crown Reserve Bidding Procedures.
