Effective January 1, 2008, legacy claims are determined to hold rights to the ground as depicted on the Mineral Titles Online (MTO) map, regardless of where the legal posts are situated. For further details, please refer to Information Update No. 28.

- The Mineral Titles Branch can provide claim holders with a map and/or an ASCII (text) file with UTM coordinates that will help in defining a legacy claim boundary on the ground.

To request coordinates, contact the Mineral Titles Branch and provide the following information:
- Subject: "Request: Legacy Claim Coordinates"
- Your name
- Client Number
- Email address
- Legacy Claim Tenure Number(s)
NOTE: Some legacy claims straddle UTM zones (i.e. are within the boundaries of two UTM zones). Ensure to make note of and assign the correct UTM zone to each of the provided coordinates in your navigation instruments (i.e. GPS units).
