Mining Economic Task Force
In December 2008, the Premier announced the creation of a Mining Economic Task Force. The Task Force brought together leaders of industry to explore and examine the sustainability of mining in the province and to bring forward recommendations to help mitigate the effects of the global downturn on the mining industry. On January 29, the Task Force delivered on its mandate with the submission of their Mining Economic Task Force Report to the Minister’s Council for Mineral Exploration and Mining.

Labour Market Needs in British Columbia’s Oil and Gas Industry, April 2007
The Labour Market Needs in British Columbia’s Oil and Gas Industry Study, was jointly commissioned by the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources and BC Innovation Council, with advice and input by the Petroleum Human Resources Council of Canada and the Ministry of Economic Development. The analysis outlines skill shortfalls and recommends actions to ensure an adequate labour supply, sustaining the economic momentum produced by oil and gas development in British Columbia.
Requesting Public Comment: Mediation and Arbitration Board

Housing Consultations: Challenges and Opportunities in Northeast BC
This May 2006 report, a result of a partnership between the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources, the Office of Housing and Construction Standards (Housing Policy Branch) and BC Housing to explore the issues related to housing in Northeast British Columbia, has been presented to the northeast British Columbia local governments for their decision regarding priorities and the ways and means to address them.
OIL AND GAS EDUCATION AND TRAINING IN BRITISH COLUMBIA: PLANNING TODAY FOR TOMORROW’S PROSPERITY (PDF 388KB)
This report contains recommendations from the B.C. Oil and Gas Education and Training Consortium to the ministers of Advanced Education and Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources. These recommendations outline a comprehensive approach to education and training to meet industry's human resource needs. Government is reviewing the report and will respond within the context of the provincial energy plan.
