Mineral and coal deposits are widely distributed throughout British Columbia, and their discovery, development and production result in significant benefits to regional economies and the provincial economy as a whole. Consequently, exploration and mine development is encouraged in all areas of the province where mineral and coal tenure can be acquired.

PLEASE NOTE: The Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources requires that all mines have a current Mine Emergency Response Plan as per section 3.7.1 of the Health, Safety and Reclamation Code for Mines in British Columbia.
