54th Annual Provincial Mine Rescue and First Aid Competition

The 54th Annual Provincial Mine Rescue and First Aid Competition was held on June 6, 2009 at The British Columbia Museum of Mining (Britannia Mine) near Squamish. Simulated scenarios challenged teams from across the province. Six surface teams, four underground teams and six three-person miners’ first aid teams competed for ten mine rescue and first aid trophies. The event, which was open to the public, provided real-life situations to test participants’ skills in first aid, extrication, fire fighting, rope work and general mine rescue knowledge.

Following the all-day competition, the Provincial Mine Rescue, First Aid and Safety Awards where handed out at Quest University. Trophies were awarded to the best three-person miner first aid team, as well as for excellence in surface and underground mine rescue. Information on the winners of the 2009 competition can be found below; for information on the Mine Safety Awards, please CLICK HERE.
