Before retiring from the BC Geological Survey in 2010 Ray was responsible for the delivery of geochemical analytical and assay services to the Survey, maintaining drainage, till and rock geochemistry databases and conducting applied geochemical research to support of the BC mining and mineral exploration industries. Ray worked for Barringer Research, BP Minerals, Fox Geological Consultants and Amax Exploration as an exploration geologist/geochemist before he joined the Survey in 1990. He now continues to carry out research into different aspects of surficial sediment, soil, ground and surface water geochemistry and publishes the results of his studies in technical reports and journals. Ray is a sessional instructor and Visiting Scientist at the School of Earth and Ocean Sciences, University of Victory and a BC registered professional geoscientist (P.Geo).
