Development and management of geospatial data
Area of Expertise:
Leading a professional, well-integrated, multidisciplinary team in the design, development and marketing of Provincial and Federal geoscience information. Responsible for geological integrity of databases and timely delivery of data to internal and external clients.
Develop project proposals; present technical papers and workshops; direct the design, implementation, documentation and evaluation of computer software applications.
Current Focus:
Management of "MapPlace", an Internet-based GIS system providing access to BC geospatial data to diverse client groups, including mining and exploration companies, government, universities and prospectors. Provide leadership for other geospatial databases such as mineral inventory, coal data, exploration and coal reports, geochemical data, and publication indexes.
Past Projects:
Researched and compiled mineral deposit information for MINFILE and National Mineral Inventories. Developed and tested computer applications and Internet applications to deliver geoscience and mineral inventory data.
Associated Experience:
Delivered 14 workshops and 40 presentations, 7 with technical papers, on design and use of the MapPlace, MINFILE and other Provincial databases to national and international audiences.
Proficient in computer applications, web development, spatial data and database management systems.
Consultant with the International Atomic Energy Agency on "Geological Data Management, Data Exchange and National Mineral Inventory".
CBA Certificate in Business Administration.
Conducted mapping and mineral exploration in BC, Yukon, Manitoba and NWT. Compiled reports and published maps.
