Janet is the provincial Coal Geologist in the Cordilleran Geoscience Section of the BC Geological Survey.

Janet joined the British Columbia Geological Survey in 2012 as the coal geologist. She worked in the mineral exploration before joining the Survey as a regional mapper from 1987 to 1994. After several years of work in the forest health industry as a terrain specialist, she returned to the BC Government in 2005 and she studied gas potential in the Nechako Plateau and bedrock aquifers in the Peace region with the Oil and Gas Division. Her current work is on the geology of coal resources, with a focus on the quality of BC’s Rocky Mountain coking coals.
