BC Orthophotos are created from aerial photography by scanning, geo-referencing and resampling the data. Vintage: 1995 - Present; Resolution: 1 meter pixels; Image type: Aerial, greyscale.

 

Crown Registry and Geographic Base (http://archive.ilmb.gov.bc.ca/crgb/) includes Base Map Online Store for TRIM data and imagery.  See Digital Image Services (DIS) Program (http://archive.ilmb.gov.bc.ca/crgb/pba/dis/).

Two viewers are also available for Airphotos and Orthophotos in Google Earth.  To use these viewers you will need to have Google Earth installed on your computer.  When you click on the links the files will open automatically in Google Earth displaying the coverage in red, themed by year.  When you zoom into your area of interest links for the images will be displayed.

 

 

Orthomosaics are displayed in the UTM Projected maps.  Select one of the the 5 UTM zone maps, turn on the Orthophoto layer in the Raster group (at the bottom of the legend).  The orthophotos area displayed at any scale in three resolutions.

  • World Wind from NASA: http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/.  World Wind lets you zoom from satellite altitude into any place on Earth. Leveraging Landsat satellite imagery and Shuttle Radar Topography Mission data, World Wind lets you experience Earth terrain in visually rich 3D, just as if you were really there.  Virtually visit any place in the world. Look across the Andes, into the Grand Canyon, over the Alps, or along the African Sahara.
