The Vernon (NTS 82L) reconnaissance-scale stream sediment and water survey was completed in 1976 and the resulting field and analytical data were released in 1977. A total of 1385 sediment and 1366 water samples were collected from 1309 sample sites.

 

As part of the RGS Archive Program, 1380 archived sediment pulps were re-analyzed by epi-thermal INAA and this new data along with original survey results were published in 1991.

 

In 2010, under the QUEST-South Project, Geoscience BC released new analytical results for a total of 8256 stream sediment samples under Geoscience BC Report 2010-4 that cover parts of NTS map sheets 082E, L, M and 092H, I, J, O, P.  These government-funded surveys were originally conducted from 1976 to 1981 as part of the National Geochemical Reconnaissance (NGR) program (Lett, 2005).  The new data has been carefully checked for analytical quality using blind duplicate samples and control reference material. 

 

Geoscience BC Report 2010-13, contains results of the 2009 infill surveys and parts of this package incorporate data from previous regional stream and lake based surveys completed in the study area as well as the new reanalysis results. This information has been provided in a variety of digital formats. PDF files include survey descriptions and details regarding methods, field and analytical data listings, summary statistics, sample location map, geology map and maps for individual metals. Raw digital data files used in the production process are included in XLS formats.

The 1976 survey was conducted by the Geological Survey of Canada (GSC) in conjunction with the British Columbia Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources (MEMPR) under the Canada-British Columbia Uranium Reconnaissance Program.

 

E.H.W. Hornbrook directed GSC activities and N.C. Carter directed MEMPR activities. Contracts were let to the following companies for sample collection, preparation and analysis and were managed by staff of the GSC and MEMPR.
