NTS 104P - McDame
BC RGS
53/ GSC OF 562 / NGR 41 / GSC OF 733

The McDame (NTS 104P) reconnaissance-scale stream sediment and water survey was completed in 1978 and the resulting field and analytical data were released in 1979. A total 848 of sediment and water samples were collected from 802 sample sites.

As part of the RGS Archive Program, 847 archived sediment pulps were re-analyzed by epi-thermal INAA and this new data along with original survey results were re-published in 2000.

Acknowledgements

The 1978 survey was undertaken by the Geological Survey of Canada (GSC) in conjunction with the B.C. Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources (MEMPR) under the terms of the Canada-British Columbia agreement on a Uranium Reconnaissance Program.

E.H.W. Hornbrook directed GSC activities and  N.C. Carter directed MEMPR activities. Contracts were let to the following companies for sample collection, preparation and analysis and were managed by staff of the GSC and MEMPR.

COLLECTION: Bema Industries Ltd., Langley, B.C.
S.B. Ballantyne (GSC) and G. Nordin (MEMPR)
PREPARATION: Golder Associates, Ottawa, Ont.
J.J. Lynch (GSC)
ANALYSIS:

Chemex Laboratories Ltd., North Vancouver, B.C. (Stream Sediments)
Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd., Ottawa, Ont. (U in Sediments)
Barringer Magenta Ltd., Toronto, Ontario (Stream Waters)
J.J. Lynch (GSC)

Initiated in 1990, the RGS Archive Program was conducted by the MEMPR and was funded in part by the Canada/British Columbia Mineral Development Agreement (1985-1990). P.F. Matysek and W. Jackaman directed the activities of MEMPR staff and managed the following sample preparation and analytical contracts.

PREPARATION:  Rob Phillips, Ottawa, Ont.
ANALYSIS: Becquerel Laboratories, Mississauga, Ont.
